Michael Greenberg was born on August 6, 1967, in New York to a Jewish Family. He studied at the Stuyvesant High School till he graduated from there in the year 1985. After then he went to the Northwestern University for further studies. There he joined a club named Theta Chi fraternity and through it he went on to be a sports anchor at the WMAQ-AM in Chicago. Hence he started working very early. He is believed to do his graduation from Medill School of Journalism. He worked at the WMAQ-AM for three years and in the year 1992, he joined WSCR- Radio to work as a sports reporter and host of a talk show. There he used to cover sports events such as, ‘World Series’ and ‘Super Bowl.’ He then joined a sports channel of Chicago in the year 1994 and left it in 1995 to work for CLTV.
Owing to his past experiences, he went on to join ESPN in the year 1996, and was inducted in to the newly formed ESPNEWS. ESPN gave Greenberg an accomplished career. He returned to radio on the persuasion of ESPN in 1999. It was a morning show with Mike Golic which became a wide success such that in the year 2005 they started a combined show on ESPN2. Meanwhile, Mike continued to anchor on ESPN’s SportsCenter. With these shows in hand Mike Greenberg emerged as one of the most loved sports anchor.
Apart from Sports anchoring, Mike Greenberg also hosted a game show named ‘Duel’ on ABC network, a sister concern of ESPN. He has also been on two more shows named ‘Guiding Light’ and ‘LIVE! With Kelly.’
Mike is also an eminent writer. He started writing from the very beginning of his career with column in Copley News Service, California. In March 2006, he took the next step towards writing and penned his first book, ‘Why My Wife Thinks I’m An Idiot: The Life and Times of a Sportscaster Dad’ and then another in April 2010 titled ‘Mike and Mike’s Rules for Sports and Life.’ The former could reach at the 14th position in the New York Times bestseller and even bagged a nomination in the Best Sports Book category for the Quill Awards 2006. He has also released two more novels named ‘All You Could Ask For (2013)’ and ‘My Father’s Wives (2015).’
Greenberg got married in the year 1997. He, along with his wife, Stacy Greenberg and two children Nicole Greenberg a girl and Stephen Greenberg a boy live happily in Westport, Connecticut. They share a strong family bond.
